Story Breakdown: Avenging Spirit (Arcade)

One of the best parts of a video game is the ending, but who has the time to go back and play through every game? Let me introduce you to Game Over: The Early Years, the weekly show where we dive into classic games and spoil both their stories and endings. From the biggest hits to obscure classics, we're taking a look at some of the best and most memorable conclusions in video game history.

Today brings big news from our friends over at Retro-Bit Publishing, who just announced that pre-orders are open for their first Game Boy reproduction – the cult classic, Avenging Spirit. It's going to not only feature the original Japanese artwork, but also include a retranslated ending and some of the bits missing from the super-rare American release from the early 1990s. You can pre-order the game through July 3rd for either $45 or €50. To help celebrate this exciting announcement, I want to take a look at the original arcade game that started it all. Turn back now if you don't want to know what happens next, because we're going to spoil the story and ending for the arcade version of Avenging Spirit. This is Game Over: The Early Years!
