Alien vs. Alien Syndrome

Considering that we don't really know what aliens look like, it always amazes me the lack of originality I see in the general media. At one time it was all humanoid aliens with masks on, but now it seems to be split between a few alien "types". Don't believe me? Consider, if you will, how many TV shows, cartoons, and video games have aliens that fit into one of these three categories: They look like the creatures in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. They look like the aliens in Star Wars. Or they do what Alien Syndrome did; totally rip off H.R. Giger's Alien (seen in the Alien series).

This cover art is both confusing, and a little disingenuous. Unknowing gamers will likely confuse this with 20th Century Fox's Alien series, even though there is no official license used. The game is mildly influenced, but not based around this series, even though you'd think so judging by the cover. On a side note, Sega did hold the license for a couple of "Alien" games in the arcade, so it was only a matter of time. Sometimes you really CAN judge a book by its cover.
