When I was a kid, I got a kick out of trying to scare people. I would think most kids enjoyed trying to scare people. Boo! Greedy kid takes this simple idea and turns it into a brand new PC game. But is it worth your time?

In Boo! Greedy Kid, you play as a nameless brat who needs money to buy soda. Naturally, the only way to obtain said soda is to scare old people to death in one hundred different levels. In every level, your objective is to get all the money in the stage, kill the old people, and get out without getting hit.

At the end of every stage, you get a star rating that shows how you did on the previous level. Stars can be earned in 3 ways: Just beating the level will give you one star, while the other two must be obtained by getting the required amount of money and escaping within a certain amount of time. This can get tricky as when you get hit, you lose money and somehow the money that is picked back up is not the same amount of currency that was dropped. Some people who play Boo! Greedy Kid will be obsessed with getting a 3 star rating on every level. I am not one of those people. Personally, I enjoyed just making my way through the game scaring everyone to death.

Speaking of scaring, it won't always come easy. As the levels go on, suddenly nurses are around to resurrect the olden folk, or security is there to tase this kid. On top of that the level layouts start to get more tricky with multiple floors, doors, and even a rogue RoboCop. This adds some much needed depth in the game, as without these additions Boo! Greedy Kid would have been repetitive.

The one thing that was repetitive, though, was the music. When playing, I only noticed one song. Now this song is a good one, don't get me wrong, I just wish there was more. What Boo! Greedy Kid does best though is the charming visuals. I enjoyed the pixel art in the game, and genuinely felt bad for these cute older people that are getting screamed at by this brat.

On top of working through the one hundred hellish stages, Boo! Greedy Kid also comes with its own level creator with Steam Workshop support. It's easy to design with the tools and I can't wait to see what the community comes up with. And did I mention that you can scare these old people with the power of your own voice? Playing with a mic adds a whole new layer to an already goofy game.

While the music can be a bit repetitive and there isn't a lot of depth here, Boo! Greedy Kid proves to be a fun action game with a compelling theme. The gameplay is fun, the visuals are charming and there's more than enough content to keep you playing for a long time to come. At a mere five dollars, Boo! Greedy Kid is definitely worth your time.
