Fight the Future II: the Brit, the Beatle, and the 8 Ball Not a day goes by without some email or message asking me about the future of gaming. We here at Defunct Games talk about the past so much that it seems we never talk about the current, or future. But today that will change ... but only slightly. Regular viewers of Defunct Games will remember we already did this article once before, and it was such a big hit we thought we'd bring it back for a sequel. A lot has happened since the last time we talked to our "experts", and frankly, there's a lot of catching up that needs to be done. If you be chance missed the first installment you need to check out Fight the Future I: Elvis, John Lennon, and a Magic 8-Ball right now!! So here's how it works, we set ourselves up with a list of vital questions that NEED to be answered, and then we got them answered with three "trustworthy" sources. First we went straight the United Kingdom to talk to our friend Tony Blair. Over at My Little Tony you to can get into a conversation with this man. And then we consulted our trusty Magic Eight Ball (hey, it's never let me down before). And finally we wanted to get a spiritual outlook at the future of our gaming world. So, we found John Lennon, which you to can talk to over here, and we asked him the questions. John was a bit of a grouch. Regardless, what follows are the responses from our experts. -Cyril TONY BLAIR MAGIC 8-BALL JOHN LENNON Have you been good since the last time I talked to you? Apart from being Richard Branson, it's the best job in the country! Who's your favorite ex PM? Yes Definitely Hey, Have dr winston o boogie been good since the last time you talked to John Lennon , You know my name, look up the number. I want to just get right down to it, let's talk about what's on EVERYBODY'S mind, do you think September 11th is going to affect the gaming communities much more than it already has? I DON'T NEED TO THINK! I'm P.M.! I have people to thing FOR me. Very Doubtful Why do you want to do it so much? Can the Xbox succeed, it had a strong launch in the U.S., weak in Japan, and so so in Europe. The EU has its knockers but I ask you? Where else can we put past-their-sell-by-date politicians and by-election losers out to pasture that we've given Hong Kong Back? Yes Definitely Have you ever been to Europe? People really do care more about video game violence than campaign finance reform I love jokes and japes. Shakespeare walks into a pub. The barman says, 'get out, you're a bard'. My reply is No Have you ever been to New York? Do you think games are really bad for you, like current reports show? Disagreement is the essence of politics!! Reply Hazy, try again Do I think games are really bad for John Lennon like current reports show ? I don't perceive where I'm going. Is it fair to say that DVD has officially taken over, in the game and movie world Stock answers? Whatever next? Actually my advisers have warned me that certain questions might come up so I took the liberty of preparing a few answers. There's no lawsuit against it!! YES It fair to say that dvd has officially taken over in the game and movie world ? What are you doing in my kitchen? What are the chances of You Don't Know Jack being renewed on ABC? Ask me a few questions and find out for yourself. Don't count on it Is that a rhetorical question? How about SNK, can the Neo*Geo come back from the dead? That whys I don't know. The wherefores maybe. Yes Definitely How about it Do people really like Defunct Games? Luckily, being a politician I don't have to answer the questions you ask. Surely the more important question centers on the raft of underage drinking and drug taking in this country. Without a Doubt Sorry, I'm stumped. I don't know why they would. The Fake News, it's a little much, people don't like it, right? So true. Funny how it seems. Always in time, but never in line for dreams. Head over dreams . Most Likely What's your real name? Should I buy into this one year anniversary crap? I'm sad you feel that way about our conversation. Concentrate and ask again I think you should. Defunct Games has NO BUSINESS going to E3, no way no how? Speaking of companies, thanks for keeping me company. Shall we talk about something serious? Outlook good What do you do in your spare time? A.I. didn't do well, will Minority Report fair better? Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime!! Cannot predict now I lost my train of thought. Can you believe A Beautiful Mind won best picture? Most PMs are . My reply is No I can't believe it's yesterday The next Star Wars is going to suck, isn't it? May the force be with you! Very doubtful I have no idea what that is. This section has gone on a little too long hasn't it? Can't you moan about something more mainstream? Signs point to yes What colour are your eyes? You wish I hadn't actually done a sequel to this popular article, don't you? I spend a lot of time wishing, it's true. Without a doubt Yeah. That's about right.
