A.P.B.

I've been looking for a competent version of A.P.B. (All Points Bulletin) for years now. Being an old school Atari game it wasn't readily available on every system ... do you think they're about to re-release it or upgrade it? Yeah, I didn't think so either.

It was for this reason that I was so excited about getting the Atari Lynx version of All Points Bulletin! I played and played and played ... heck, I even went through all 99 levels in this mammoth game, and I can honestly say that it is ... CLOSE, but not quite.

What?!? Close and not quite? What do you mean? It looks like the arcade game. It plays like the arcade game. What's missing? Well, for starters, the game just doesn't sound like the original game (which is a big portion of the arcade game, believe it or not). It also doesn't QUITE play like the original. Plus it seems a heck of a lot more repetitive on the Lynx than it ever did in the arcade.

But I think the most baffling question of them all: Why is the game not played this the VERTICAL SCREEN? I mean, the arcade game was. What's with this WIDE screen A.P.B.?

That doesn't make any sense to me. But the game plays well enough for me to recommend, even with these minor complaints. And says you're not likely to find a better adaptation of this game anywhere else, I have to say that it's well worth owning. I just wish it were better.
