Fighting Vipers 2

I'll admit it, outside of Killer Instinct, Fighting Vipers is the most annoying popular fighting game. That's right, I'm not afraid to take on Fighting Vipers ... and here's why:

First and foremost, the graphics, while good four years ago, don't do anything in this day and age. And frankly, the arcade game never had the best graphics to start from. And what's with the cast? Basically all the characters return, plus two new characters ... neither of which is interesting in the least!!

I mean, we already had a skateboarder, do we need a biker, too? And that's brings up a whole other point. Frankly, Fighting Vipers characters are like the casting call rejects from Virtua Fighter. Filled with character ... but without any real interesting moves, or even memorable personalities, Fighting Vipers 2 is a mess (a lot like that sentence).

But I digress. Fighting Vipers 2 isn't pure evil, I mean, the game does have a unique armor system, which isn't used enough, and a weird enclosed, yet breakable, barrier around the arena, that is used too much. But even with these great features, it can't do much to pull Fighting Vipers out of obscurity.

The control is spot on, all things considered. But it's mostly stolen directly from Virtua Fighter characters. Even the control is EXACTLY Virtua Fighter 2 ... something that works for it's favor, but also points out exactly how much better Virtua Fighter 2 was.

Oh sure, the Fighting Vipers series lets you punch people really hard ... but Virtua Fighter 2 had a drunken fighter! Anyway, let me just say in closing, there is no reason you should import Fighting Vipers 2 ... well, unless you are still waiting to get your hands on Mortal Kombat Gold.
