Thrash Rally

Thrash Rally is frustrating on so many levels, but its complete lack of ambition that hurts it the most. If you've ever seen Gran Turismo, Ridge Racer, or even Mario Kart you really ought to look elsewhere for your enjoyment!

First and foremost, Thrash Rally is an overhead racing game, sort of a Spy Hunter rip off with more twists and turns. Since it's a rally game your car is extremely loose and tends to slip and slide all over the course. There are two types of game play, a standard level race, and a cross country, five level endurance race.

The game play is pretty standard fair, though, with two buttons, and only left and right really controlling your car. There also seems to be a lot of cars on the course, yet it doesn't seem to matter what place you are in (it doesn't actually tell you what place you are in until the end). Speaking of other cars, the collision detection is horrendous. You can often times not even swerve to avoid cars, sometimes you are allowed to drive right through your opponents. Not a good story.

Actually, while the game does offer quite a bit of replay, it's simply frustrating how low it set its sites. Mediocre at best.
