Mega Play

Years: 1990 - 1995
Publisher: Sendai Publishing
Today we're taking a look at Mega Play, the first of several system-specific magazines from Sendai Publishing. With an eye for Sega systems, Mega Play offered gamers a nice amount of original content, as well as four-person reviews. Learn more about this EGM spin-off when you watch today's episode of 29 Magazines of Christmas.

Excerpt: The bi-monthly magazine usually ran between 50 and 70 pages, featuring the usual mix of game previews and cheat codes. Mega Play would close each issue by spoiling a popular Genesis game, because that's what game magazines did at the time. And then there were the reviews, which mirrored EGM's popular four-critic review crew design. Unfortunately, the layout didn't allow for reviews longer than 35 words.

On Tomorrow's Episode: Come back tomorrow when we'll take a look at The Adventures of GamePro, the short-lived comic book series found in early issues of GamePro. With only three issues, you'll want to hear about GamePro's many adventures in Thursday's episode of 29 Magazines of Christmas.
