You Only Live Once: Strider (Genesis)
By Cyril Lachel     |   Posted on August 01, 2013   |   Episode 1 (Show Archive)

Welcome to YOLO, the video series where I play as much of a game in a single life. No continues or cheating; I only have one life to live. Join me as I tackle a different game every THURSDAY and SUNDAY. And don't forget to subscribe to the Defunct Games YouTube channel for more content!

My name is Cyril Lachel and you're watching YOLO, the only show that's guaranteed to end in heartbreak. I'm taking the challenge to play every game with a You Only Live Once attitude. In this case, literally. I'll play exactly one life of every game, seeing just how far I can make it in a single turn.

Today we're looking at Strider for the Genesis. It was originally developed by Capcom, however this version was reprogrammed for the Genesis by Sega. It's a solid port of one of my favorite arcade games of all time. Let's go ahead and push start and see what happens.

CAN'T GET ENOUGH STRIDER?

REVIEW: STRIDER (GENESIS)

Cyril discovers that Strider not only holds up
as an action game, but delivers some of the best
thrills you could have on the Genesis. Find out
what Cyril thinks of Strider!

32 ENDINGS OF CHRISTMAS #3: STRIDER

Despite being one of Capcom's biggest 16-bit
hits and the winner of EGM's coveted Game of
the Year award, Strider has barely been seen
or heard from in the last two decades.

TEN MORE GAMES CAPCOM NEEDS TO REVIVE

With the announcement of a new Bionic Commando
game and Street Fighter IV, Capcom is set to make
every old school gamers' wish come true. But what
if Capcom doesn't stop with those two classics?

REVIEW: JOURNEY FROM DARKNESS: STRIDER RETURNS (GENESIS)

Contrary to what the name suggests, Journey from
Darkness is not a proper Strider sequel. Capcom
would eventually release a 32-bit follow-up,
but it has no continuity with this Genesis game.
