Net Yaroze (Sony)

Going Rate: $800 - $1000*
What's Up: So, you own a PlayStation, Psone, and PlayStation 2, eh? Well, how about a Net Yaroze? That's right, if you don't own a Net Yaroze then what kind of gamer are you? For those who don't know, with the Net Yaroze you can actually make your own games, with a fare amount of programming knowledge. What's good is that the Net Yaroze allows for popular game libraries to be available at a fairly cheap price. You won't make Metal
Gear Solid out of the libraries, but you'll be on your way to something pretty special. Plus it plays games at 4x. Oh yeah, and did I mention that it's slightly too expensive.

How Cool Are You: Hmm, you'd have a black PlayStation, and how cool is that? Plus there isn't any territorial lock outs. I think the RIGHT people will see how cool it really is. But let's face it, for the $1000 you're likely to spend on this (now that there aren't very many available), you're not going to get much out of it now. Most of the UK and U.S. websites have stopped posting tips and libraries, and few people have any information about games (and games created) on the Net Yaroze. As a work station, you'd better look elsewhere. A great system though, and something a fan truly wants.

*Prices for games and collectibles has been known to fluctuate wildly. What's more, this article was written in 2001, so any number of factors could sink or improve its value. I hope you enjoy the article, but hope you won't take the prices too seriously.)
