Kasumi Ninja

Why would you even consider buying a game like Kasumi Ninja?

Is it because of the amazing character designs and the photo realistic graphics? Heck no, the characters here are among the lamest of any characters ever in a fighting game (outdoing even War Gods). How lame are the characters? Well, there's a guy in a kilt. That's usually not a good sign for a fighting game.

Oh sure, there are characters besides the one with the kilt (Angus McGreggor), but they range from dull (Thundra the Amazon Queen) to absurd (like Alaric the King of the Goth). There are a total of nine fighters, none of which will captivate you for much longer than a round. The only good thing I can say about these brutes, is that they tend to look extremely well detailed (for the Jaguar at least). So what was the question again?? Oh, that's right. Why would you even consider buying a game like Kasumi Ninja?

Perhaps it's because of the great graphics? Oh no, it can't be! There is no doubt about it, the graphics animate so poorly that it's hard to imagine a game that looked any worse. This is the kind of animation you expected back when the original Street Fighter was being developed, not for a 64-bit super system. But wait a second; didn't I just say the graphics looked good?? Well, they do when you're paused. The moment things start to move it's too difficult to watch for more than a couple seconds.

And did I mention that the game is no fun to play? There is no combo system and the moves seem pretty random to me. There is no technique to be had here, and each of the characters plays too similar. It's not the worst fighting game of all time, but it's pretty close. If it weren't for the fact that there's a guy in a kilt there would be no reason to talk about the game. No reason at all.

Do yourself a huge favor and avoid this game at all costs. Actually, avoid all fighting games on the Jaguar, if you know what's good for you. Who knew a system with so many buttons would be so bad at fighting games?
