Some people may go the whole wide world to find a gaming mouse that will work with their favorite PC game. In fact, companies make computer mice and keyboards for very specific games, be it Unreal Tournament, Battlefield or World of Warcraft you can rest assured that there will be a peripheral made just for you and your addiction. But what I am here to do today is introduce you to the newest section of Defunct Games, the Hardware review section, and with that I bring you the newest peripheral that may or may not make all those "specific" peripherals obsolete.

Sandio Technology's 3DGame O' 6DOF Mouse is more than just a mouthful; it's a new way of thinking. Most modern computer mice work with 2D, moving things left and right, forwards and backwards. The 3DGame O' mouse works on the 2D and 3D plain, allowing you to have total control over your game in any given situation. The mouse it's self is a little more bulky then I would have preferred, but is a vast improvement in contour from what was previously shown off at E3 2006.

When I first got my hands on the finished product, I was a little frightened by its bulk, and the ability to become a lethal weapon if need be, but then I soon realized that a larger portion of the mouse is option and can just be pulled off. The original intention of this big bulky grey snap on piece still eludes me, at first I thought maybe it was on there to make moving the mouse easier, but I then realized it moved a little too easy giving me absolutely no control over where the mouse was going. I have yet to reattach it.

Looks: The 3DGame O' 6DOF is a rather large mouse on comparison to other mice on the market, but this is not like other mice on the market, this is the first 3D laser gaming mouse that sports three joysticks, 2 very large buttons, a scroll wheel, and two useless buttons all covered in a very nice shade of candy red paint. Besides having one of the largest names of any gaming peripheral to date, the mouse has a removable wrist rest that does more bad then good, it is rather risible to think of what good could come from having it as part of the final design of the mouse, with it attached you could use the mouse as a lethal weapon if need be.

Features: While at first this mouse may seem cumbersome for the average user, it is rather simple to use. Making movements with the three joysticks is second nature, and using it as a regular mouse couldn't be more flawless. The 3DGame O' sports a highly accurate Avago 6010 Laser, and multiple dpi settings (400, 800, 1600, 2000) making it a very responsive mouse with extreme accuracy in the most demanding of programs. The 3DGame O' has a total of 12 programmable buttons and 5 standard buttons which work for almost any scenario. The mouse also features 16-bit data packet transmission for increased performance allowing less lag and better tracking of the mouse location in relation to the screen.

Functionality: The 3DGame O' comes with its own software to handle the optional 12 programmable buttons, but lacks the ability to change the dpi settings which must be done through a combination button press on the mouse itself. The software comes pre-configured for over 20 top PC titles, including Battlefield 2, Unreal Tournament 2004, Quake IV, and Warcraft III. If your favorite game title isn't included in the list don't fret, mapping the buttons to your favorite game is a rather painless process. If you plan on programming the mouse for use in a program rather than a game be prepared to lose a spot on your program bar, as it does not dock quietly in the task bar.
