S.T.U.N. Runner

I know what you're thinking, how can that Lynx possibly recreate a game like S.T.U.N. Runner? It was one of the Arcades brightest stars ... years and years and years ago. Well, I'll admit it I was impressed by Atari's revision of this classic.

The graphics are amazingly good. Outside of having less detail, a problem with the Lynx, not the programmers, S.T.U.N. Runner looks incredible. What's more, it plays extremely well, too. It doesn't run at the speed of the arcade, but it's damn close. What is lost in the detail is made up in the speed, and when it's going fast you never really notice what you're missing from the arcade.

Almost all the levels remain intact. While none are that different from each other, there are quite a few, and each offers a different challenge. In fact, the one player game is mysteriously difficult. You whip past the first five levels without a problem, but the game becomes extremely intense after ten more. Nonetheless, it will offer enough challenge for you to continue to come back.

The game is extremely repetitive, but it's well worth playing. One of the best racing games on a portable ... even if it's not a portable, per se. If you can find it, pick S.T.U.N. Runner up, it's well worth your money.
