Ladies and Gentlemen, the award season is upon us. The Academy Awards announced their nominees and the Golden Globes have already been handed out. The Grammy’s are starting to threaten to take all the fun out of music, and I hear the Cable Ace awards are just around the corner. So, what have we forgotten?

The International Game Developers Association’s own Game Developers Awards. As with years before, the 2002 GDA awards focus on the best and most innovative games of 2001. Leading the pack of nominees is Sony’s sleeper hit Ico with five nods. Grand Theft Auto III, Halo, and Black & White are also expected to walk away with one or two awards as they have two nominations each.

In all 19 different games were nominated for seven awards, and we’ll find out who the winners are when they are announced March 21st. This article will give you predictions, insight, and maybe some games that SHOULD have been nominated. We’ll be back to update this section on the 21st, so perhaps we’ll all find out together how my predictions held up. So what are you waiting for? Why don’t you take a look at the nominees!! -Cyril
