RIP Yahoo Answers: Answering Every Question About EGM

Sixteen years ago, Yahoo had an idea: Give people a site to answer questions. It doesn't matter how silly the question was, they figured that somebody would have an answer. But proving once again that all good things must come to an end, Yahoo has decided to kill their answer site on May 4, 2021, leaving billions of people with nowhere to go. Well, except for Reddit, Ask.com, Quora, WikiAnswers and Askville. In an effort to honor this long-running answer site, I thought it might be fun to go through sixteen years of questions and answer every single question related to Electronic Gaming Monthly. Yes, I know that these answers are going to be a little late, but I figure that it's about time I do some good for a change. Here is an answer to every EGM question I could find on Yahoo Answers. I hope you're sitting down, because this is going to be a long one.

Five Music Games That Make No Sense

Some things just go together. Like rocking the fake plastic guitar to Deep Purple, dancing to Michael Jackson's greatest hits and laying down wicked loops in Beaterator. But sometimes a great band and a talented development team can't come together to create amazing music, and we're left with games that leave us scratching our heads. Today we're going to be looking at five music games that make no sense. That's not to say these games are bad, but I'm confused by each and every one of them for completely different reasons. Let's rock!

Nintendo Power Picks the Games on the Super NES Mini

This week we learned that Nintendo may be planning a mini Super NES for the holiday season. Of course, this should come as no surprise to anybody that remembers how popular the NES Classic Edition was last year, but it's nice to hear that all of our 16-bit favorites may be returning sooner rather than later. To help celebrate what will surely be another huge seller, I've decided to take a look back at old issues of Nintendo Power to see what games they would have chosen.
Today we're going to talk about Nintendo Power's top reviewed 16-bit games of all time and figure out just how many actually have a chance of being packaged with the Super NES Classic Edition this fall.

Today is October 21, 2015, the day Marty McFly, Doc Brown and Elizabeth Shue landed in Back to the Future Part II. You know the story: Marty travels from 1985 to 2015 to save his family, and ends up messing everything up along the way. While the movie gets a lot of the predictions wrong, I found the Back to the Future Part II video game to be surprisingly prescient. Don't believe me?

Unless you've been living under a rock, you've probably heard about Microsoft's How-Old.net website. It's a goofy little program that is supposed to accurately assess your age. Unfortunately, it's not very good at this job. Instead of clogging the website up with pictures of friends and family, I decided to see how old all of my favorite retro game characters look. The results were ... interesting.

For many of us, Nintendo Power was the gateway drug to harder video game magazines. With its eye-catching cover designs and an emphasis on detailed strategy guides, Nintendo Power toed the line between informative news source and wildly biased propaganda machine. No matter where you come down on this long-running magazine, it's interesting to look back at some of the misconceptions people have about Nintendo Power's early days.
